What design challenges are presented by a site that sits on wood and ash fill and was part of a landslide?
Adapting a site to fit a new residence while reusing portions of the existing residence’s foundation is often challenging. While this home was being designed, the embankment under the area of the living room and the deck subsided 6 feet. This project team was tasked with finding an innovative way to site the home without compromising the aesthetics of the design. The result was a structurally sound home that still reflects the artist’s, architect’s and home owner’s vision.
